About Us

Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in learning a little bit more about us.

To properly explain I guess it’s best to start at the very beginning……….

As a young child I was given my first sewing machine; a little Singer Sewing Machine and immediately fell in love with sewing. At the age of 7 I started making my first quilt, an english paper pieced project with papers cut from cereal boxes. To this day, this project is still not finished but it started a dream of opening and running my own fabric shop.

Years later, while raising four children under the age of five, I still used any spare moment I had to sew, making clothing and craft items to sell at local craft markets around Melbourne. As the kids grew it quickly changed from craft markets to also packing up as much fabric and haberdashery items that we could fit in the back of the car and selling to craft groups and holding the occasional small sale in our living room at home.

With the help and support from my husband Russell and our family, our business grew and in March 2004 we opened our ‘shop in a shop’ inside Keith Fagg’s Tile Shop at 202 Canterbury Road in Bayswater. Although starting in a small corner of the shop, since opening our doors more than 15 years ago we have continued to expand. After the passing of my Dad, the Keith Fagg Tile business has now closed but we are still in the building and fabrics are overflowing further and further into the tile area.

As a family owned and run business you will often find myself, Russell and our family here; including one or more of our ten grand children.

With the shop in Bayswater and having stalls at many of the Craft Fairs around Australia, I don’t get as much time to sew anymore but love working in a place filled with so much colour and inspiration and having the chance to meet people as passionate about sewing as I am. Although I am not always in the shop, we have a friendly and experienced team who can help you with your projects..

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Happy Stitching
